What is the CTA?
The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) became effective January 1, 2024. It is a federal law designed to comb atillicit financial activities (i.e., terrorism support, money laundering, etc.) by mandating disclosure of beneficial ownership and control persons.
This law impacts all entities (LLCs, corporations, trusts) and targets smaller businesses. Failure to adhere to CTA requirements results in severe penalties, including substantial fines and imprisonment. Penalties are only avoidable through timely and accurate reporting. Learn how to understand CTA in a one-hour Legal Seminar.
