The coronavirus has affected our entire community. It has forced us to keep our distance, stay away from school and work, and remain in our homes. All of this might cause us to forget that we are a community and we need each other. We know that art and engaging in creative activities has the power to heal our souls. The Magic Valley Arts Council continues to encourage creativity and self-expression.
Studies show that spending as little as 30 minutes engaged in an art project can relieve stress, improve and sustain memory and strengthen critical thinking skills. Art not only benefits us physically, art unify us ? While we are apart from our friends and neighbors, the home page of the Magic Valley Arts Council?s website will be dedicated to portraits of our community.
You can draw a self-portrait, paint a portrait of your neighbor from across the street, take a picture of something that represents a person you love, build a life size sculpture of your family out of cereal boxes. Be creative and have fun.
We are all in this together and during this time of separation let?s take a moment to remind each other we are not alone.
Upload as many different portraits you want of as many people you know. Submit your portrait(s) to www.MagicValleyArtsCouncil.org.
